3c. water
1 box of raisins
2c. sugar
1t.cinnamon
1t. allspice and cloves
3T. shortening
4c.flour
2t.baking soda
1T. cocoa
nuts and fruit

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first six ingredients. Boil five minutes and cool.
Add flour ,baking soda ,cocoa and nuts and fruit.
Bake in slow oven until done.

This recipe lets you add your personal favorites with the fruit and nuts. This is my Aunt Helen's recipe. I don't remember what she put in hers but we enjoyed it every Christmas.
