Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 1/2 c. flour

1 tbsp. baking powder

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. salt

1 c. + 2 tbsp. sugar divided

1/2 c. butter melted and cooled

2 eggs

1 c. milk

1 1/2 c. chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and spray a 12-serving muffin pan with non-stick cooking spray.

2. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl, including the chocolate chips. Use only 1 cup of sugar here, as you'll be using the rest later.

3. Combine all wet ingredients in a medium bowl with a whisk.

4. Add the wet ingredients to the bowl of dry ingredients little by little, being sure not to over stir.

5. Stop mixing the batter as soon as the wet and dry ingredients are combined.

6. Evenly distribute the batter into the greased muffin pan. Sprinkle the additional 2 tablespoons sugar on top of the batter. Place in oven and bake for 5 minutes.

7. Lower the heat on the oven to 375ºF and bake for 12-14 more minutes.

8. Take the muffins out of the oven when a toothpick is clean after inserting into the middle of the muffins (besides some melted chocolate, of course!).

9. Allow to cool, remove from muffin pan, and enjoy!

Personal Notes:
The bakery style chocolate chip muffins are excellent. I try to eat my muffin as soon as I take them out of the oven, because that's when they are soft, warm, and the chocolate chips are melted and it's delicious. This recipe has been in my family for a while and passed down, I think, but these muffins are great for a delicious breakfast or just for a day time snack.
