2 1/2 lbs fresh asparagus (large with thick stalks) - about 30 large

Drizzle of olive oil
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper

1/2 cup fresh Parmesan Reggiani, shredded
Balsamic glaze (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º F.

Wash the asparagus and then trim the ends..
Lay them in a single layer on a sheet pan & drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt & pepper. Using your hands, rub the asparagus to make sure the olive oil, salt & pepper cover the asparagus well.
Roast for 15 to 20 minutes, until tender.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with parmesan and move to serving plate.
Drizzle the tips of the asparagus with balsamic glaze.

The first time I tried this recipe, I had just watched Martha Stewart do it on the Food Network.
The balsamic glaze is optional. It's just something I tried once and liked the taste of it with the asparagus and the cheese.
