1 cup butter, softened
2-1/3 cups sugar
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 large eggs
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup buttermilk



Icing:
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup heavy cream
1 cup powdered sugar

Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. In another bowl, whisk together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk ( batter will be thick). Transfer to a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 350ºF for 40 to 45 minutes until a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minute before removing to wire rack to cool completely. For icing, combine butter, brown sugar and cream in a small saucepan; bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; cool 5 to 10 minutes. Gradually beat in powdered sugar; spoon over cake.
