1 cup sugar
1/4 cup margarine
1 egg
2 unpeeled grated apples (I use any red apple)
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Sauce
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup evap. milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and butter. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into prepared 8 inch square pan. Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes.

For sauce, combine all ingredients in saucepan and melt over medium heat. Spoon sauce over each piece.
