Pastry:

4 cups of flour
½ teaspoon salt
1 tsp sugar
⅓ teaspoon of dry yeast
1 stick of margarine or butter or olive oil
1 cup room temperature water

Filling:

Muenster cheese
About 3 tbsp. of flour
2 or 3 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all pastry ingredients together in kitchen aid with hook. Pour in water after everything else is mixed. If dough is pliable and not sticky then you have done well, but if it is too dry then you need to improve so add 1 teaspoon of water at a time. Roll out dough and use a glass to cut circles in the dough.

For filling, mix muenster cheese, about 3 tablespoons of flour, and 2 or 3 eggs in a bowl. If it is very dry then mix another egg into filling. Drop a tablespoon of filling into the middle of each circle. Fold the circles in half and then crimp the edges together with your fingers and then a fork to make a pretty design.

Place in oven that has been preheated to 350º F for 20 min. These are great cold or warm.

Personal Notes:
This is a favorite recipe of mine that my mother in law learned while she lived in Syria. It is a classic Syrian snack - they are super delicious, I prefer them slightly warmed. Enjoy!
