Ingredients: Pasta Meat Sauce (a kid and adult favorite!) Ingredients: 2 tbsp. oil 2 lb. ground beef 2 c. chopped onion (a little less than 1 large onion) 1 tsp. seasoned salt (such as Lawry's Brand) 2 tbsp. tomato paste 1 tbsp. fresh parsley to garnish
Directions: Heat oil and fry onions until golden-brown. Add meat and fry for three minutes until slightly brown. Meanwhile, mash meat into even smaller pieces with spatula. Add tomato paste and saute for another three minutes until tomato paste is slightly browned as well. Add a little bit of water, cover pot, and bring to a boil. Add seasoned salt. Don't over-cook meat as it should be soft.
Cook pasta of your choice separately.

Directions:Fasolia (String beans) w/Meat (a dish dad loves to make and that we grew up eating) Ingredients: 2 tbsp. oil 2 lb. beef chuck or meat for stews 2 lb. fresh green beans (string beans), trimmed and halved (or whole, if you prefer) 1/2 . water 3/4 (15 oz) can tomato paste 1 fresh tomato diced (optional) pinch salt and pepper (optional)
Directions: Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat; fry the onions until a slightly brown. Add the beef and salute for 10 mins., adding the tomato paste after 5 mins, to brown. Pour the 1/2 c. water; cover and reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 mins., stirring occasionally. mix the green beans (and any salt + pepper), cover and simmer another 15 mins. Add fresh tomatoes (optional), cover with water; cover and simmer another 45 mins.
String beans can be purchased in a bag, but they should still be washed. I find it tastier to buy the string beans loose buy the pound, in which case you need a bit more than half a market vegetable bag full. |
