1 pound soft butter
2 cups brown sugar
1-1/2 cups white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 eggs
6 cups flour
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
two 12-ounce chocolate chips

optional – nuts, white chocolate chips, etc.

Directions:
Directions:
Mix soft butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time. Add premixed dry ingredients (a few cups at a time). Add chocolate chips and other optional ingredients. Bake on parchment paper or ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 11 minutes at 350º.

The secret to soft and chewy cookies is to under cook the cookies - remove them while still almost raw.
