1 cup finely chopped dates
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven 375
Bake 12-15 minutes

Combine date, water and nuts. Cook until thick then cool before adding to mixture.

Cream shortening, sugar, brown sugar. Add eggs gradually. Add date mixture that you have you have cooled. Add remaining indrecients and mix thoroughly. Drop spoon full onto greased cooking sheet and bake.
