3 to 4 c. fruit, cut up
3/4 c. sugar
3 Tbsp. butter
1/2 c. milk
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Spread fruit in a 9x9x2 inch pan. Cream together 3/4 cup sugar and butter. Then add milk, flour, baking powder and salt. Pour this batter over the fruit. Sift cornstarch and 3/4 cup sugar together and sprinkle evenly over the batter. (When I use cherries or rhubarb, I increase the sugar to 1 cup.) Then pour 1 cup of boiling water over the top of all. Bake 1 hour at 375º.
