1 tsp gelatin
1 Tbsp cold water
1 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
2Tbsp cornstarch
1/4 salt
3 egg yolks well beaten
1 Tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup heavy cream, whipped

Directions:
Directions:
Soak gelatin in cold water. Scald milk in top of double boiler. Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt mixing thoroughly. Add to scalded milk. Cook until thick and smooth; then cook 15 minutes longer stirring constantly. Stir a small amount of mixture into beaten egg yolks. Return to double boiler and ook a few minutes longer. Add gelatin. Add butter, cool. Add vanilla. Fold in whipped cream into custard mixture. Pour into pie shell (preferably crumb crust) and sprinkle top generously with nutmeg.

This recipe came from my Grandma, dad's side. We have kind of kept it close to our "chest". Actually, I am the only one that makes it anymore for a Christmas family gathering. Enjoy.
