1/2 Cup Butter
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
1 Egg
2 Cups Flour
1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda

Filling:
1/4 Cup Sugar
Dash Salt
1/3 Cup Water
7 1/4 ounce package Pitted Dates, chopped fine
1 Cup Nut, chopped to fluff

Dough:
-Cream butter and both sugars.
-Add vanilla and eggs; beat until light.
-Add dry ingredients.
-Chill dough for 30 minutes to 1 hour until firm enough to roll.


Filling:
-In sauce pan, bring to boil; dates, sugar, salt, and water.
-Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring often.
-Add nuts.
-Cool completely.

-When filling is cooled and dough is firm; halve dough.
-Roll each half in between two sheets of wax paper into 9"x12" rectangle.
-Spread on filling; Roll up.
-Repeat with second half.

-Refrigerate rolls 8 hours or over night.

--Preheat Oven to 375º

--Slice rolls in 1/8" thick slices.
--Place on un-greased cookie sheet.
--Bake 8-10 minutes.
