¼ cup soft shortening
½ cup sugar
1 egg
½ cup molasses
½ cup cold water
2 cups flour
½ tsp. soda
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
½ tsp. nutmeg
½ tsp. cloves
½ tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening and sugar, eggs, molasses well. Stir in water. Sift dry ingredients and stir in. Chill.

Bake at 400º F. for 7-8 minutes.

Frost while slightly warm with Vanilla or Cream Cheese Frosting.
