2 cups self rising flour
1 teaspoon sugar
¼ teaspoon soda
1/3 cup Crisco shortening
1 cup buttermilk
Butter, melted

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to425 degrees. Sift together flour, sugar and soda with pastry blender or two knives. Cut shortening into flour mixture until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk. Knead dough on floured board or cloth 10 times or until smooth. Roll to ½ inch thickness and cut with round floured biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake for 12 -15 minutes or until golden. Brush with melted butter.
NOTE: All purpose flour sift 1 teaspoon baking powder and ½ teaspoon salt with dry ingredients.
