1 cup shortening( 1/2 butter)
1 cup powdered sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp red food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Mix thoroughly first seven ingredients. Divide dough in half and add red food coloring to 1/2 of the mixture. Roll a small amount of each color dough into a strip. Place strip side by side and press lightly together and twist like a rope. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and curve top to form the handle of a cane. Bake at 375 º about 9 minutes until lightly browned.
