2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg (1/2)
1 cup butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
FROSTING

2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup softened butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
about 1 tbsp of milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter & sugar until light & creamy. Add egg and vanilla and beat until well combined. Stir in flour. Chill 1 hour Bake at 375º for 6-8 minutes.
For frosting mix butter and sugar for a minute or two add milk and vanilla. Mix until creamy, adding a bit of milk if necessary. Frost and decorate.

I usually color the frosting for these cookies so as not to mistake them for the Anise cutouts at Christmas time.
