1 1/2 c. All purpose flour
1/2 c. Unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Baking powder
1/4 tsp. Baking soda
1/2 c. Soft margarine or butter
1 c. Sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
10 oz. Jar maraschino cherries, drain and reserve juice

Icing:
Cherry juice
6 oz. Semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. Eagle brand sweetened condensed milk

Stir dry ingredients (flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder, & soda). Set aside. Cream margarine until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, beating well. Gradually add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and beat until well blended. Shape into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press down center with thumb. Put cherry in center of each cookie.

Combine chocolate chips and condensed milk in small sauce pan. Heat until melted. Stir in 4 tsp. cherry juice. Spoon about 1 tsp. icing over each cherry, spreading to cover cherry. Thin with more cherry juice if necessary.

Bake at 350º for 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Makes about 48 cookies.
