1 quart whole milk
4 eggs
2/3 cup sugar
pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients. Add milk mixed with eggs. Cook in double boiler until thick, stirring often - about 15 minutes. May substitute 2 eggs and 2 tablespoons flour for the 4 eggs.

Bunch always made this for anybody who was sick. Les particularly loved it and learned to make it himself when he was 9 or 10. He quickly learned that his little sister and brother would "help" him eat it. So he learned to put red and green food coloring in it to turn it an ugly gray so they wouldn't touch it! We had gray boiled custard at our house for many years.
