3/4 cup unsalted butter, slightly softened to room temperature
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract (makes the flavor outstanding)
2 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (spoon & leveled)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Mix powdered sugar, margarine, egg, vanilla and almond extract. Mix in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours. Heat oven to 375º. Divide dough into halves. Roll each ball 1/5th of an inch thick on lightly floured cloth-covered board. Cut into shapes.

Sprinkle with granulated sugar, place on lightly greased sheet. Bake until edges are light brown, 7 to 8 minutes.
