1 c sugar
1/2 c shortening
1 egg
1 1.2 c flour
1 1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t backing soda
1/2 c milk
2 t vanilla
1/2 t salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening together, add unbeaten egg and blend well. Sift flour with dry ingredients. Add vanilla to milk and add alternatively to creamed mixture with dry ingredients. Starting and ending with flour mixture. Mix well and drop by teaspoon's full in powdered sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake 10-12 minutes at 375º.
