Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3 cups quick oats
1 cup coconut or chopped nuts
1 cup mini marshmallows
2 cups sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk
1 cube of butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl put first three ingredients: oats,coconut/nuts,marshmallows. Do not mix yet, keep marshmallows together on side of bowl. Set this bowl aside. Slice your butter into 8 pieces, set aside.

In a medium saucepan put the sugar, cocoa and milk, heat slowly, stirring continuously turning up the heat until sauce come to a "hard ball" stage. Boil and stir for 1 minute. (test for "hard ball" by dropping a small amount from your spoon into a cup of cold water, touch the drop to see if it is soft, medium or set up stage)

Take pan off the heat, continue to stir, adding the butter, vanilla and salt until melted in.

Pour hot cocoa mixture over the marshmallows, stir until marshmallows are melted, mixing all ingredients in the bowl. Mix well. Drop spoonful of mixture onto waxed paper in cookie shape. Dough will be sticky, use two spoons to scoop and drop onto wax paper. Let air dry until cookie pulls from paper easily.

You can leave on wax paper or put in container which will make them soft.

Personal Notes:
This was a childhood favorite, sometimes we didn't get the sauce boiled enough so the cookies never did set up, we would just eat them off the waxed paper with a spoon. Still tastes the same!
Memory: I used this recipe during a high school presentation in speech class, pre-measured ingredients, electric burner and the class got to eat the product.
