MISSOURI NO BAKE COOKIES
3 Tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup peanut butter
3 cup quick oats
1 teaspoon vanilla
Combine all but vanilla, oats and peanut butter and bring to boil. Boil for 5 minutes, stirring. Remove from heat and add peanut butter, vanilla. Melt together and add oats..drop on wax paper to cool. If you don’t want the peanut butter or the cocoa just leave out. Store in airtight container because they dry out fast. Sometimes if it didn’t set up good and were gooey, from not boiling long enough, we put it on ice cream. Enjoy! We had this recipe back in the early 70’s. they were called Missouri cookies (for some reason) but i called them misery cookies - i couldn’t stop eating them till i got sick.

4 ounces butter
1/2 cup milk
2 cups sugar
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
3 to 4 tablespoons peanut butter, optional
3 cups oats, quick or old-fashioned
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Place chocolate chips, peanut butter (if used), oats, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Combine the butter, milk, and sugar in a saucepan; bring to a rolling boil. Boil for 1 minute. Combine the hot mixture with the oatmeal and chocolate chip mixture; stir well. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.
