1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
3 overripe bananas, crushed
2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening together. Add eggs and bananas. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Lightly grease 9 x 5" loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Cool 10 minutes in loaf pan. Place on wire rack.

Recommend using 1 stick unsalted butter for the shortening and using pecans for the nuts. Dust top of bread with confectioners' sugar after the bread has cooled. (Judi Willis)
