2 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 lb. gum drops
1 jar maraschino cherries (optional)
2 T. baking soda, dissolved in 2 or 3 T. of hot water.
Directions:
Directions:
Combine brown sugar, shortening, eggs, and baking soda that has been disloved in hot water, until blended. Mix flour, cream of tarter. Add to creamed mixture. Fold in gum drops. Drop by tsp. onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350 º for 10 minutes
