½ cup soft shortening
1 ½ cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup thick sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 ¾ cups sifted flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt

Frosting:
About ¾ box Confectioners sugar
4 tablespoons melted margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
Lemon juice

Thoroughly mix together shortening, sugar, and eggs. Stir in sour cream and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt, then stir in. Chill at least 1 hour. Drop rounded teaspoonful’s about 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake until delicately browned, just until, when touched lightly with finger, almost no imprint remains. Bake at 425◦ for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen 2 ½ inch cookies.

Frosting:

Mix together Confectioners sugar, margarine, and vanilla. Thin with lemon juice until the right consistency. Keep stirring. Frost cookies when cool.
