2 lbs veal round steak or thin round steak, cut into 2" pieces
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp paprika
1/4 cup salad oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 cup water (part onion liquid may be used)
1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
1-3/4 cup water
1-3/4 cup small, cooked onions (1 lb can, drained)

Butter Crumb Dumplings:
2 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp poultry seasoning
1 tsp celery seed
1 tsp dried onion flakes
1 tbsp poppy seeds
1/4 cup salad oil
1 cup milk
1/4 cup melted butter
1 cup bread crumbs

Sauce:
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup sour cream

Directions:
Directions:
1. Coat the veal round steak with a mixture of 1/3 cup flour and 1 tsp paprika. Brown the meat in 1/4 cup salad oil. Add 1/2 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp pepper and 1 cup water. Cover and simmer 30 minutes or until tender.
2. Transfer to large baking dish (13"x9" or 3-qt. casserole). Heat 1 can condensed cream of chicken soup in skillet used above.
3. Blend in 1-3/4 cup water gradually. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Combine with meat and gravy. Add the onions. Top with 14 to 16 Butter Crumb Dumplings (recipe follows). Bake uncovered at 425º for 20-25 minutes.
4. Serve with sauce made by heating 1 can cream of chicken soup and 1 can sour cream to boiling.

Butter Crumb Dumplings:
1. Sift together 2 cups flour, 4 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1 tsp poultry seasoning into mixing bowl.
2. Stir in 1 tsp celery seed, 1 tsp dry onion flakes and 1 tbsp poppy seeds.
3. Add 1/4 cup salad oil and 1 cup milk. Stir just until moist. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough into a mixture of 1/4 cup melted butter and 1 cup bread crumbs. Roll to coat well with the crumbs.

This may be my all-time favorite recipe that my mom makes. I remember many, many birthdays when this was my dinner of choice. It's still my first choice for a dinner by mom. For some reason, it's just better when she makes it for me.
