1/2 c. butter, softened
1-1/2 c. unsweetened apple sauce, warmed
2 c. sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1 T. vanilla
3 c. plus 2 T. flour, divided
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1 T. cinnamon
1 T. baking soda
1/4 c. luke warm water
1 c. nuts (of your choice)
1 c. raisins or other fruit of your choice

Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine butter and warmed applesauce. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Add egg and vanilla; combine. In a separate bowl, sift together 3 c. flour, salt, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon; combine with mixture. In a separate bowl, combine nuts and fruit with 2 T. flour to prevent them from falling to the bottom during baking. Add to mixture. In a separate bowl, combine luke warm water and baking soda. Stir until baking soda is dissolved. Add to mixture and blend until combined. Spray a tube pan with non-stick cooking spray. Pour batter into pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hr. or until toothpick inserted in cake comes out dry.
