1 box seedless raisins
2 cups water
4 cups flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup *Spry or margarine (I use margarine)
2 cups sugar
1 cup cold water
1 tbsp. baking soda

*Spry was a solid shortening that was available in the 30's and 40's.It is a vintage item that's no longer available. Crisco can be substituted instead.

Boil raisins and water for 15 min. Stir spry, sugar, cold water and baking soda (stir until well mixed). Add flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, salt and raisins. Bake in round tube pan at 350 for 1 hour.
