2 cups butter or margarine, softened
2 cups brown sugar, packed
1 cup milk
4 cups all-purpose flour
4 cups rolled oats
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

Date Filling:
1/2 lb chopped dates
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup water

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar together well.
2. Slowly mix in milk.
3. Add remaining ingredients.
4. Mix well.
5. Chill for 1 hour.
6. Roll out fairly thin on lightly floured board.
7. Cut into 2 1/2-inch rounds.
8. Place on ungreased baking sheets.
9. Bake in 350°F oven for 8-10 minutes.
10. Cool.
11. Fill with Date Filling, to form a sandwich.

For date filling:
1. Combine dates, sugar and water in saucepan.
2. Bring to a boil.
3. Simmer, stirring often, until mushy and thickened.
4. Add more water if too dry, or simmer longer if too runny.
5. Cool and spread between cookies.
