1 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
4 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp. soda
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup buttermilk (or 1-1/3 Tbl. vinegar and add milk to make 1 cup)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add rest of ingredients and mix well.
Cover and chill for 3 hours. Roll out 1/4" thick (use plenty of flour on board). Cut with cookie cutters.
Bake at 350º for 10 min. or until slightly brown.
Frost and decorate when cool.
