1 cup butter
1 cup Brown sugar
Mix until fluffy
Add
1 1/4 cup molasses
3 eggs

3 cups flour
1 Tbsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp all spice
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp ground cloves
Mix
Constantly scraping bottom and sides of bowl.
Stir in 2 cups flour
Dough will feel a little stiff.

On a floured surface roll dough out to 1/8 inch and cut in desired shapes.
Use a spatula to pick cookies up to put on pan.

You may also divide the dough and wrap in saran to refrigerate up to 2 days.
For decorating icing use Royal icing
Mix
2 1/2 cups icing sugar
2 egg whites
1/2 tsp cream of tarter
Add more sugar as needed to make a piping or spreadable consistency. Keep covered,
with a damp tea towel.
Can be made ahead and stored in airtight containers.
