1 pint clams coarsley chopped
3 slices bacon chopped
1 medium onion chopped
1 cup liquor from clams (add water if necessary)
2 cups peeled diced potatoes
2 cups rich milk or half & half
salt & pepper to taste
2 Tblsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Fry onion and bacon together until lightly browned. Add clam liquor and potatoes. Cook 15 to 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Add clams. Cool chowder for a few minutes, return to heat; add milk in a slow stream, stirring constantly. Add salt & pepper and continue stirring until chowder is hot but not boiling. Add a small lump of butter to each bowl and serve.
