1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 egg
2 c. flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar; add egg. Gradually add other ingredients and mix well. Drop by 1/2 tsp. on ungreased cookie sheet.

Butter bottom of a juice glass.....dip in sugar and press lightly on dough. Bake at 375 F. for 8-10 minutes. Makes 48-60 cookies.

Note: At Christmas time, use red and green sugar for a great holiday touch.

You just can't find a better sugar cookie. This was my Grandmother's recipe that was given to her by her friend, Marge Heidler. Always a favorite at Christmas when you use green and red sugar!
