Dough:
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup shortening
3 beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
Filling:
1 box chopped dates
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar mixed with 3 tbsp. corn starch

Directions:
Directions:
preheat oven to 350 ºF

Cook all filling ingredients until thick, then cool. Mix all dough ingredients then divide into 3 or 4 equal portions. Roll each portion on wax paper until about 1/2 inch thick. Spoon filling on to dough and roll into a jelly roll. Freeze until ready to bake. Slice rolls and bake for 15-20 minutes.
