"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
2 c. sugar 2 eggs 3 c. flour 1 c. salad oil 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 2 T. vanilla 1 c. chopped nuts 3 c. fresh pears or apples
Blend all ingredients together and fold into a lightly greased and floured 9" X 13" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes until done. Cut into individual squares and store in an airtight container when cool.
Sprinkle cinnamon over fresh fruit before folding into batter. Substitute 1 T. walnut flavoring for 1 T. of the vanilla for a rich flavor.
