3/4 cup chocolate chips
1 Tbsp. shortening
1-1/4 cup dates, chopped
1-1/2 cup Rice Krispies
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Melt the chocolate chips and shortening until smooth. Place a piece of waxed paper on a inverted 8 x 8" pan and spread half of the chocolate mixture over the square and chill. Combine the butter, sugar and dates in a 2 quart saucepan and cook over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Remove from heat and stir in cereal and nuts. Cool to lukewarm. Spoon filling carefully over the chilled chocolate sheet and frost with the remaining half of the melted chocolate. Chill and cut into squares of desired size.
