3/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter
1 c. powdered sugar
1 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. rolled oats

Optional:
chocolate shot, semi-sweet chocolate, chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or chopped candied fruit.

Preheat Oven: 350º

Mix thoroughly:
shortening, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.

Mix in thoroughly:
flour, salt, and rolled oats

Shape into 2 rolls (1 1/2-inches) in diameter.
Coat by rolling in chocolate shot, grated semi-sweet chocolate, chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or chopped candied fruit. Wrap in waxed paper, and chill until stiff (several hours or overnight).

WHEN READY TO BAKE:
Cut into 1/4" slices.
Place a little apart on ungreased baking sheet.

Bake: 12 to 15 Minutes or until lightly browned.
