1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup softened margarine or butter
1 egg
1/4 cup buttermilk or water
1 tsp root beer extract
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

Frosting:
2 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup soft margarine or butter
1 1/2 tsp root beer extract
2 Tbsp hot water

Directions:
Mix and drop by spoonful on cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for about 10 min. Cool, then frost . You can top each frosted cookie with a candy root beer barrel.
