Directions:-Mix milk, sugar, & yeast together until it bubbles. -Cream eggs & crisco -Add flour, alternating with yeast mixture -Mix with hands -Refrigerate overnight -Remove small amount of dough from refrigerator (about the size of a grapefruit) and roll out to about 1/4 inch thick on mixture of flour & sugar. May need to add more of the flour and sugar mixture to dough to keep it from sticking. -Cut dough into 2 inch squares, place about 1/2 tsp of nut mixture in center of square and fold 2 opposite corners of dough over the center. Gently squeeze last corner into cookie to keep it from opening up while baking. -Bake at 350º for 10-15 minutes.
Other fillings can be used like apricot or raspberry. Don't use jelly but use the fruit filling that you can buy in a tube at the Apple Castle or the Cheesehouse |

Notes: My Grandma Gaydos taught me how to make these MANY years ago. I remember her coming to our house when I was very young to make these cookies for Christmas. She always referred to them as "Criscos." She always made some filled with lekvar for my Dad because those were his favorite.
