1 c. Crisco shortening
1 1/2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. granulated sugar, divided
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. sifted all purpose flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 º. In mixing bowl, cream shortening, 1 1/2 c. sugar and eggs. Sift together, flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt, add to creamed shortening. Mix well, cover and chill 1 hour.
Combine 2 tbsp. sugar and cinnamon. Form chilled dough into balls about the size of walnuts. Roll balls in sugar/cinnamon mixture. Place about 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake about 10 minutes. Cookies will puff up at first then flatten out, edges should be just barely golden and tops will be crinkly.
