1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
grated rind of 1 lemon
1-1/2 cups flour
1 beaten egg
1/3 tsp salt
1/3 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients and drop by teaspoon into hot oil (2-1/2" - 3" deep) Be sure to hold spoon close to oil to prevent spatters. Batter will rise to top in round balls. When deep brown , remove and shake in a bag with sugar.

Keith used to make these for the boys (and himself of course) when " they" were young, about the mid 80's.
They are really easy to make, and really good to eat.
