4 or 5 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar, divided
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter or margarine softened
pinch of salt
1 egg
1 cup all-purpose flour
chopped walnuts

Place apples in buttered 9" or 10" pie plate. Mix 1 tablespoon sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. cream butter, 1 cup sugar, salt and egg together until smooth; add flour and mix well. spoon batter over apples. sprinkle with walnuts. bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. serve warm with ice cream.
