1 box (18.5 oz.) cake mix (lemon, strawberry,
raspberry, pineapple or other flavored
cake mix may be used).
1 c. brown sugar, packed.
1/4 c. firm margarine or butter.
3/4 c. chopped walnuts or pecans (optional).
3 eggs.
1 1/2 c. (12 oz.) sour cream.

Pre-heat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour 9" x 13" x 2" cake pan. Mix 1/2 cup DRY cake mix with brown sugar and margarine/butter until crumbly. Add nuts, mix and set aside.

Beat eggs slightly with fork, blend in sour cream. Mix in remaining cake mix (batter will be thick and lumpy). Spread half of batter in pan; sprinkle with half of sugar mixture. Spoon and gently spread remaining batter in pan; sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until wooden toothpick comes out clean. Serve warm.
