"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Personal Notes:
When my brothers joined the service and were shipped overseas & the younger brothers were shipped off to college, my mom would mail them cookies in Pringles containers, so the cookies would not turn to crumbs. We were strictly an Old Dutch family with our cottage cheese and potato chips – and we never ate potato chips without cottage cheese – who would? So my mom needed a recipe to get her Pringles cans. This is what she came up with. She would never tell anyone what was in the candy, until they tried it and guessed. No one ever did guess right. Hope you keep up the tradition!
