2 c sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1 stick butter
1 c light brown sugar
1/2 c sour cream
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c chopped dates
1/2 c finely chopped walnuts

Directions:

Sift flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and cloves onto waxed paper.

Melt butter in a medium sized saucepan over moderate heat. Remove from heat. Add sugar and beat with a wooden spoon until combined. Beat in sour cream, egg and vanilla until smooth.

Stir in flour mixture until thoroughly combined; stir in dates and nuts. Spread evenly into a greased x 10 pan.

Bake at 350º for 30 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into diamond shapes.
