1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 1/4 cups flour
2 t baking soda
1 t cinnamon
1 t ground ginger
1/2 t ground cloves
1/4 t salt
3 T sugar

Directions:
Directions:
heat oven to 325
In large bowl, mix wet ingredients :first 4, mix with electric mixer.
In another bowl mix dry ingredients except sugar
Add dry into wet
Shape dough into small balls, dip into sugar. place balls on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 13-16 minutes or until set. Cool on cooling rack.
160 calories each for 1 11/2 inch ball.
