1/2 cup butter -do not use margarine
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
1tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped cashews

Caramel Frosting
1/2 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

Heat oven to 375 degrees. In heavy 2 qt saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter over medium heat. Cook stirring constantly until butter is a light brown; pour into large bowl. Cool 5 minutes.
Stir in 1 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla and 1 egg with spoon. Stir in four, baking soda and salt. Add chopped cashews. On ungreased cookie sheet drop by tsp about 2 inches apart.

Bake 8-10 minutes or until no indentation remains when touched in the center. Cool 1-2 minutes. Remove to wire rack. Cool completely about 30 minutes.

Meanwhile in 2 qt saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter over medium heat. Stir in 1 cup brown sugar. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Stir in 1/4 cup milk. heat to boiling. remove from heat. Stir in1 ts[ vanilla. Cool to lukewarm about 30 minutes. Gradually stir in powdered sugar.

Spread about 1 Tbsp frosting on each cookie, top with cashew half.
