1 cup molasses, 1/2 cup salt pork (fried), 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1 cup boiling water, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 11/2 cups flour.

Directions:
Directions:
Cut up pork in small pieces (You will likely need a cup in order to get a 1/2 cup when fried), Fry out and let cool. Pour boiling water in a bowl. Add baking soda, stir and let cool. Sift flour and cinnamon together. Add molasses to the water and soda mixture. Add flour and cinnamon. Stir together and add salt pork. Kneed slightly on a floured surface and roll out to about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thickness Cut out using a cookie cutter or top of a glass. Place together in a greased pan and bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.

Lew tell stories about how he and his buddies from elementary school would go to grandmother George's at recess time and get a bun for a snack. One day the teacher scolded one of his friends for eating in class. When she asked what it was he was eating, he replied, "that's fat pork lassy buns, miss."
