1 9" pie shell well chilled
3 tablespoons butter softened
1teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup corn syrup
3/4 cup white sugar
shake of salt
1/2 cup (approximate) pecan halves reserved

preheat oven to 450º

line 9" pie pan with pastry and put in the fridge while filling is prepared

combine butter and vanilla and beat until creamy

add sugar and beat until fluffy

add eggs one at a time beating well after each

add corn syrup, dash of salt and chopped pecans and mix well

* spray 1 cup measure with non stick cooking spray before measuring corn syrup and it will pour right into mixing bowl no scraping required.

Pour into chilled pie shell

Bake at 450º for 10 minutes then arrange reserved pecan halves on top of pie filling.

Reduce heat to 350ºand bake 30-35 minutes longer, until center of pie barely jiggles

Check pie after 15 to 20 minutes and if crust and top are browning to quickly spray a piece of foil with non stick spray and just lay over the top until it is finished baking then remove while pie cools on wire rack. Serve with whipped cream.
