1/2 Cup Boiling Water
1/2 Cup Shortening
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Light Molasses
1-1/2 Cups Flour
1/2 Tsp. Salt
1/2 Tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 Tsp. Soda
3/4 Tsp. ginger
3/4 Tsp. Cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients first. Place boiling water in bowl, add shortening to melt or soften, add brown sugar, light molasses (I used Brer Rabbit) and egg. Mix well. Add dry ingredients and beat well. Pour into oblong pan and cook at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
